Harikishen is arguably India's greatest living batik artist, and his creations are sought out by collectors from all over the world.

Here he has conceived Lord Krishna, as depicted in the ancient murals of South India. Colored a radiant blue, with lotus like eyes and thick lips, he sits on a rock playing the flute. Especially noteworthy is the almost naturalistic treatment of the cow, a constant companion of Krishna, the cowherd.
