A well-known spiritual figure in India, Srila Narayana Maharaja was a student of Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswati Thakur, the creator of the Gaudiya Math. A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the creator of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON), also had him as a disciple.
The teachings of the Srimad Bhagavatam, the Bhagavad Gita, and other Vaishnava texts were Srila Narayana Maharaja's life's work. He made extensive trips to India and other countries, giving talks and leading retreats and seminars on bhakti yoga and devotion to God.
Being a prolific writer, Srila Narayana Maharaja produced numerous publications on spirituality, including comments on the Srimad Bhagavatam and the Bhagavad Gita. He also wrote hymns and devotional songs, which are performed by his devotees and supporters.
