The inspiration behind this batik painting is the Indian tradition of miniature painting. Both the figures are shown in profile, a typical characteristic of Indian miniature painting. The whole atmosphere of the artwork is pervaded with a raw sensuality, whereas Krishna is shown in his traditional garb, Radha is dressed very sensuously, with her tight bodice only sufficient enough to restrain her quivering bosom. The love play of Radha-Krishna is acted out on a terrace, and the branches of the tree in the background bent, as if to get a better glimpse of these amorous activities.

The artist is Shri Harikishen, arguably India's greatest living batik artist.
