Preserver of the Universe

This handcrafted brass statue intricately depicts Vishnu, the preserver and sustainer of life in the Hindu trinity, alongside his ten celebrated avatars. A beautiful addition to any sacred space or collection, this piece serves as a powerful reminder of the divine's role in maintaining cosmic balance and order. Vishnu, one of the most important deities in Hinduism, embodies qualities of mercy, goodness, and self-sacrifice. He is often invoked during times of crisis, offering solace and hope to devotees. He is most often depicted with dark, blue skin.

The Dashavataras: Descending to Earth

Encircling Vishnu's form are representations of his ten principal avatars, or incarnations. Each avatar appears when cosmic order is threatened, intervening to restore dharma (righteousness) and protect the world. These avatars represent a broad spectrum of forms, demonstrating Vishnu's ability to manifest in whatever way is necessary to address the specific challenges of each era. These incarnations include: *

Matsya:

The fish avatar, who warned Manu of the great flood, saving humanity and the sacred Vedas. *

Kurma:

The tortoise avatar, who supported the churning of the cosmic ocean, allowing for the creation of amrita (the nectar of immortality). *

Varaha:

The boar avatar, who rescued the earth from the depths of the cosmic ocean after it was dragged down by the demon Hiranyaksha. *

Narasimha:

The half-man, half-lion avatar, who emerged from a pillar to defeat the demon Hiranyakashipu, who was terrorizing the universe. *

Vamana:

The dwarf avatar, who tricked the demon king Bali into relinquishing his control over the three worlds. *

Parashurama:

The warrior avatar, who challenged the tyrannical rule of the Kshatriya class. *

Rama:

The ideal king avatar, whose story is recounted in the epic Ramayana, demonstrating righteousness, devotion, and bravery. *

Krishna:

The divine statesman and philosopher avatar, whose teachings are contained within the Bhagavad Gita, offering wisdom and guidance on the path to liberation. *

Buddha:

The enlightened teacher avatar, who preached compassion, non-violence, and the path to Nirvana (though some traditions view Buddha as a separate figure). *

Kalki:

The future avatar, who is prophesied to appear at the end of the current age (Kali Yuga) to destroy evil and usher in a new era of righteousness. These incarnations highlight the Hindu belief in the cyclical nature of time and the continuous intervention of the divine to restore balance and uphold dharma.

How to keep a Brass statue well-maintained?

Brass statues are known and appreciated for their exquisite beauty and luster. The brilliant bright gold appearance of Brass makes it appropriate for casting aesthetic statues and sculptures. Brass is a metal alloy composed mainly of copper and zinc. This chemical composition makes brass a highly durable and corrosion-resistant material. Due to these properties, Brass statues and sculptures can be kept both indoors as well as outdoors. They also last for many decades without losing all their natural shine.

Brass statues can withstand even harsh weather conditions very well due to their corrosion-resistance properties. However, maintaining the luster and natural beauty of brass statues is essential if you want to prolong their life and appearance.

  • The best and simplest way to maintain a brass statue is to clean it at least twice a week using a soft cloth or cotton rag. This will prevent dust from accumulating on the surface. Dusting is especially important for outdoor statues since it is prone to dust accumulation much more than indoors.

  • To give a natural shine and luster to the statue, you may apply coconut or olive oil using cotton on every portion. You can use a toothbrush to get to the small crevices but do not be too harsh. This will make the brass statue appear fresh and new with a polished look.

  • In case you have a colored brass statue, you may apply mustard oil using a soft brush or clean cloth on the brass portion while for the colored portion of the statue, you may use coconut oil with a cotton cloth.

Brass idols of Hindu Gods and Goddesses are especially known for their intricate and detailed work of art. Nepalese sculptures are famous for small brass idols portraying Buddhist deities. These sculptures are beautified with gold gilding and inlay of precious or semi-precious stones. Religious brass statues can be kept at home altars. You can keep a decorative brass statue in your garden or roof to embellish the area and fill it with divinity.
